“I met my husband-to-be (Alex) in secondary school at age 11. We were in the same class and knew each other as friends, then we got closer and became best friends and eventually he asked me out. I was 14, he was 15. ‘high school sweethearts‘, they still call us!
We had a very hard time after that, a lot of jealousy sparked a lot of bullying, we lost our friends but we had each other. On my 17th birthday, Alex proposed! He had saved up as much as he could and gave me the most sentimental thing I now own, I absolutely treasure my ring.
We then went to college together after our final three years in school, we did separate degrees but we‘d see each other at lunch and at weekends we worked in the same place! We went to Portugal in 2017 with my family and we fell in love with it! We went back in 2019 to see 8 potential venues and booked our venue - the VidaMar!
We were so excited to get married, our date was booked 20/03/20. And then Coronavirus hit, we were forced to cancel everything a week before. We were brokenhearted, devastated. I still haven‘t unpacked most things it‘s too upsetting. We tried to postpone to September 2020 but the virus was still too strong.
Our new date is booked for 22/09/22, we are really looking forward to sharing our day with the lovely staff of the VidaMar! We have been through so much, we got engaged 7 years ago, we are together 10 years and we have supported eachother and accomplished so much together. He is my best friend, and he‘s my soul mate.“
